A word or two about the Drug Policies of the United States.
Laws should protect our freedom and safety. The current U.S. drug laws do not protect our freedom and safety; they are dysfunctional laws. Criminal penalties for drug use actually cause conflict and make it harder to reduce the harm caused by drug abuse.
Please share your medical marijuana experiences with us.
The most common uses of medical marijuana are to alleviate the negative side effects of cancer and AIDS treatments (e.g. loss of apetite and vomiting). I have witnessed this at medical marijuana dispensaries in the U.S. and Canada.
I personally have experienced its healing powers. I have a deformed spine, which causes me great pain, especially as I try to sleep. Sleep aids, pain killers, and muscle relaxers can help slightly, but the negative side effects are undesirable (e.g. grogginess, liver damage). If I use medical herb on a regular basis my muscles tend to spasm less often and I am able to sleep easily. When I am well rested, I am a happier, nicer person.
Why do we have a law that prohibits my peaceful happiness?
What other drug policy organization are you a member of or otherwise support? and why?
Marijuana Policy Project (MPP.org)-This organization has played a key role in the majority of recent marijuana reform successes.
They have actually helped with our medical marijuana campaign for Oklahoma (OKmedicalmarijuana.org).

Students for Sensible Drug Policy

Keary,

I believe the SSDP site is a fossil from our short lived student chapter at OSU, which imploded under the weight of inexperience and personality classes; I was partly to blame for that one. We really do need SSDP and/or DPFOK chapters, at universities around the state, but I am unaware of any at the present time.

Peace 2 ya,

Jeff Pickens
